    How many dried-out, less-than-perfect turkey burgers have you had in your life? Maybe you really like turkey burgers or maybe you choose turkey to feel like you're making a healthier choice. But in the end, it's just not really cutting it.

    Well, that's history now, my friends! These Southwestern Turkey Burgers are hands down, THE BEST, turkey burgers in the biz.

    A dollop of greek yogurt.

    Southwestern Turkey Burgers | Sip + Spice

    Think about it—turkey burgers are dry and in need of a little fat. So when we toss a bit of greek yogurt into the meat mixture—along with a whole boatload of southwestern-inspired spices—we end up with an uber-moist, seriously delicious Southwestern Turkey Burger that should win awards.

    Plop it on a bun with a healthy swipe of mayo, some lettuce, tomato and onion, and a big dollop of smashed avocado and you have a killer weeknight dinner!

    You're gonna want to make a double batch for leftovers later in the week!

    The Best Southwestern Turkey Burgers

    Super flavorful, moist and packing a serious southwestern flare! These Southwestern Turkey Burgers are everything you want in a weeknight dinner in just 30 minutes. Serve them on toasted burger buns or a bed of lettuce with all the toppings!
    Prep Time 10 minutes
    Cook Time 20 minutes
    Total Time 30 minutes
    Servings 4

    Ingredients

    • 1 lb ground turkey
    • 2 tablespoons plain greek yogurt
    • 1 egg
    • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
    • 1 teaspoon chili powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 1/4 teaspoon chipotle powder
    • salt and pepper
    • olive oil spray optional
    • 4 burger buns
    • 2 tablespoons mayo or aioli
    • 1 small vine tomato sliced
    • red onion sliced
    • 1/2 avocado smashed

    Instructions

    • In a large bowl, mix together the ground turkey, greek yogurt, egg, breadcrumbs, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chipotle powder and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Mix well with your hands and form into 4 patties.

    • Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and spray with olive oil. Place the patties in the hot pan and cook for 10 minutes, then flip and finish cooking for 5-8 minutes or until cooked through.

    • Toast your buns and put together! Spread some mayo on the bottom bun, then top with a cooked turkey patty, add lettuce, onion, tomato, then add avocado to the top bun and serve!
