Fried Green Beans with Wasabi Ranch

  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 oz beer preferably an IPA
  • 1/2 lb green beans trimmed

Wasabi Ranch

  • 1 teaspoon wasabi powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon water
  • 1/4 cup greek yogurt
  • 3/4 teaspoon ranch seasoning


  1. In a medium saute pan, heat the oil over medium heat.

  2. In a small bowl, combine the wasabi powder and water to create a paste. Let sit for 5 minutes.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt and beer until smooth. Working in batch, dredge a few green beans in the beer batter, then place in the hot oil. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side then remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain. Repeat until all green beans have been cooked.

  4. Add the greek yogurt and ranch seasoning to the wasabi paste and mix well.
