When it comes to brunch plans, nothing will do quite like mimosas. So when it comes to summer holiday brunch (read: Memorial Day Brunch, Flag Day Brunch, July 4th Brunch), certainly nothing else will do besides Red, White and Blue Mimosas.
And thankfully, they're wildly easy to pull off! And beautiful!
To make Red White and Blue Mimosas, you'll need:
- Strawberries or Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Green Apple (or Starfruit)
- Juice (I like Golden Grapefruit here)
- And champagne, of course!
While the red and the blue are easy here, the white can get kind of tricky! Some people may be willing to call it a day with the white from the champagne foam, and I certainly have no judgement there. The easier the better, if you ask me!
However, since I was invested in finding a way to get some white into these Red WHITE and Blue Mimosas, I headed to the store to see what I could do about it.
My initial idea was to slice a piece of starfruit - not because it's the most white fruit, but because it also has that patriotic star shape going on. But alas, the store didn't have them. So then I got to idea to grab a green apple and cut it into star shapes. Props if you have a small star cookie cutter.
If not, it's pretty easy. Slice the apple across the core in the middle, then slice small 1/4 inch slices with that star shape of the seeds. Remove all the seeds and slice small triangles around the center of the apple to create pointy stars!
Then build your Red White and Blue Mimosas layering berries, sliced apple/starfruit and juice. Then top them off with some bubbly!
Cheers!
